2 of our young community members and volunteers just got attacked outside our masjid after prayers. One had a concussion after the attacker repeatedly kicked him in the face. The attacker ran away after some of our members chased him. One of the victims heard the attacker shout "Terrorist!" while being punched to the ground. This is absolutely a HATE crime. We are urging our community, our activists, our leaders, to help us make sure the NYPD 72nd precinct files this as a h...

Georgetown: Anti-Muslim rhetoric linked with increased violence to US Muslims

GOP2016Trump-cdc08By Peter Feuerherd | Jun. 30, 2016
So are some of the words used to describe this year's presidential election campaign. Muslim Americans now can use another word: violent. That is the conclusion of a Georgetown University report published by the Jesuit school's Alwaleed Center for Muslim Christian Understanding. The report links anti-Muslim political rhetoric with an uptick on physical assaults against Muslims in the United States. It is titled When Islamophobia Turns Violent: The 2016 U.S. Presidential Elections.
During the course of 2015, there were 174 reported incidents of anti-Muslim violence, an increase from 154 hate crimes in 2014. The surge coincides with the start of the election campaign season, which the report dates from the March 2015 announcement of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz's candidacy. Since the start of the presidential election cycle, there have been 180 reported acts or threats of anti-Muslim violence. American Muslims are now six to nine times more likely to suffer such attacks than pre-9/11. American Muslim men are twice as likely to be victims of physical assaults than women and 11 times more likely to be victims of murder. Much of the report focuses on the impact of Republican presidential presumptive nominee Donald Trump. Other Republican candidates were also criticized for utterances which the report described as Islamophobic.

Sacramento police probe leaflets targeting Muslims, Latinos in midtown Sacramento

Leaflets promoting violence left in midtown SacramentoBY BILL LINDELOF, May 3, 2016

Sacramento police are investigating racist leaflets left overnight on the windshields of cars in midtown. Denise Calderon, a community activist, said she awoke to find the message directed against Muslims and Hispanics on vehicles around her apartment at 26th and J streets. “It basically gives a green light to assassinate Muslims and Latinos in our community,” Calderon said. The letter ends with the sentence: “If you have not secured a body dump-site, do so now! Kidnap, rob, torture for information and execute all Muslims and Latinos. Leave no survivors.”
“I've been living here six years, we have all kinds of crazy, but this is a different level of crazy,” said Calderon.
The letter is signed Greg Withrow, co-founder and president of the Aryan Youth Movement-White Student Union. His attempts in the 1980s to form a chapter while a student at American River College prompted school officials to obtain a restraining order to keep him off campus.

Rev. Graham: 'They Persecute the Church, They Persecute Christians'

Rev. Franklin Graham. (BGEA)
Commenting on the persecution of Christians and other religious minorities in the Middle East, Rev. Franklin Graham noted the barbarity of the Islamic State but also the often oppressive nature of Islam itself, stating, “This is Islam: They persecute the church, they persecute Christians.” “The Sunnis persecute the Christians,” said Rev. Graham in an interview with CBN News. “We see in Syria and Iraq where they cut the heads of Christians, they rape the women, take them as sex slaves.”

Medford officer apologizes for shared post inciting violence against Muslims

Police conduct internal investigation
Mar 17, 2016
MEDFORD, Mass. —The police officer who shared a controversial photo that incites violence against Muslims on his Facebook is apologizing for his actions. Officer Jason Montalbano saw the post on another site and said he took it to target ISIS, but below the mushroom cloud, it reads ‘It’s time we made peace with Islam.’ “My intention to posting it was to support aggressive action against the ISIS terrorist threat,” said Montalbano. “In retrospect, I understand the reference to Islam was overboard and offensive to Muslims and non-Muslims.” The 18-year-veteran of the department is off duty as police conduct an internal investigation. “I sincerely apologize not for my intended message, but for my carelessness and inappropriate way the message was transmitted,” said Montalbano. Police are looking at other social media posts as they determine what discipline the officer will face.

A Muslim immigrant said that he was beaten for speaking his native tongue while walking down a street in Philadelphia. Amine Aouam, 34, told Metro that he was walking home after getting a drink with a friend on Saturday night when he encountered “a group of five or six white people.” He recalled that one of the women in the group seemed to be staring at them while they spoke a Moroccan dialect of Arabic. “I said to her in Arabic, ‘Good evening,’ which is ‘Masaa al-Khair,’” he explained. “She said ‘What?’ and I said, ‘I just said ‘Good evening.’ Then I walked. And the guy next to her was like ‘Stop this sh*t!’” Youssef Amarouch, who was walking with Aouam, had a clearer recollection. “Take that sh*t you said and shove it up in your ass,” Amarouch remembered the man saying. Amarouch said that while Aouam was speaking to one of the men, another man “sucker-punched him from behind,” according to Metro.

Jerry Falwell Jr.: ‘If more good people had concealed-carry permits, then we could end those’ Islamist terrorists

Jery ForwellBy Sarah Pulliam Bailey December 5, 2015
The president of Liberty University, a popular pilgrimage site for presidential candidates, urged students during the school’s convocation Friday to get their permits to carry concealed weapons. In his remarks, President Jerry Falwell Jr., son of the late religious right leader Jerry Falwell Sr., pressed students at the Christian school in Lynchburg, Va., to carry weapons on campus following Wednesday’s mass shooting in San Bernardino, Calif. “It just blows my mind that the president of the United States [says] that the answer to circumstances like that is more gun control,” he said to applause. “If some of those people in that community center had what I have in my back pocket right now …,” he said while being interrupted by louder cheers and clapping. “Is it illegal to pull it out? I don’t know,” he said, chuckling. “I’ve always thought that if more good people had concealed-carry permits, then we could end those Muslims before they walked in,” he says, the rest of his sentence drowned out by loud applause while he said, “and killed them.” “I just wanted to take this opportunity to encourage all of you to get your permit. We offer a free course,” he said. “Let’s teach them a lesson if they ever show up here.”

Donald Trump: Something ‘nasty’ coming out of Islam

e6fa85e1-d6d9-4c92-9ec4-73d451608659Mon Nov 30, 2015
Donald Trump, the leading US Republican presidential candidate, takes his anti-Muslim rhetoric to a whole new level, saying there is "something nasty" coming out of Islam. Appearing on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Monday, Trump was asked by panelist John Heilemann if Islam was “an inherently violent religion?”
“It could be answered both ways, but there’s something going on there. There’s something, there’s a lot of hatred coming out at least a big part of it. You see the hatred, I mean, we see it every day,” Trump responded.
The billionaire businessman cited the November 13 terrorist attacks in Paris and the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York to back up his inflammatory claims about Muslims and their faith. “There’s something, there’s something nasty coming out of there. And you can answer it any way you want. But at least we know the problem,” he said.

NY Man Follows Four Muslim Men Yelling, ‘I Want To See Arab Blood In The Streets’

Scream-WikiBy Anomaly on December 27, 2015
Police arrested James Samways, 40, early Sunday in Brooklyn’s Marine Park neighborhood. NBC New York reports. Samways yelled obscenities and started trailing the men as they walked Saturday night, police said. With what appeared to be a silver handgun, Samways approached the men, police said, and yelled: “I want to see Arab blood in the streets. I am an Israeli. Go back to Mecca.” The men the called 911. Officers from the 63rd precinct responded to the scene and started canvassing the area with the four men to search for the suspect. The suspect was spotted and the four men identified him as the man who had been taunting them with anti-Muslim slurs. The Hate Crimes Task Force then responded to the precinct and interviewed the four men and the suspect, then charged Samways with menacing as hate crime. Police said that at least three of the four men are of Asian-Pacific descent. A weapon was not recovered. Samways was taken into custody. Anti-Muslim attacks are occurring in record numbers. Mosques are being targeted and some places of worship have had to hire security guards.

A Case Study in Sincere Hypocrisy: Brigitte Gabriel

By by Mooneye, Loon at Large
119469 0002 is a notorious apologist for the fascist Phalange group, Kataeb, and the terrorist group, the South Lebanon Army (SLA), who were responsible for the Sabra and Shatila massacres that slaughtered 1700 to 2000 Palestinians (mostly women and chidren). Her story is that she grew up during that nation’s long, and bloody civil war. It was a war that claimed many lives and saw many factions shift alliances and allegiance. Groups that were enemies in the morning became allies at night. Indeed, Muslims fought Muslims and Christians fought Christians. She seems to play up this milieu to justify her views, as if we should – moved by her “alibi” – automatically excuse and accept them. But her alibi is objectionable since most Lebanese who grew up during this same war did not turn out as rabidly racist as she did. Gabriel believes Arabs “have no soul!”

Geller, Ritzheimer Lead Provocative Islam-Bashing Events

thGT9YHNW4October 27, 2015
When it comes to spreading prejudice and Islamophobia across the land, Pamela Geller, president of the American Freedom Defense Initiative, is the heavyweight champion. hammad. Two Muslim men from Arizona took the bait. They opened fire outside the May 3 event, injuring one security guard in the ankle, but were killed by quick-thinking police before anyone else was hurt. Then, a few weeks later, Geller tried to plaster city buses and subway trains in Washington, D.C., with ads featuring the winning drawing. The city said no and ended up banning, at least temporarily, all “issue-oriented” advertisements from Metro stations and buses. Even Juan Williams, a black Fox News contributor, told Geller during a joint appearance on the Fox show “Hannity” in late May that the ads were a bad idea. Williams told Geller, according to The Washington Post, that she seemed to be “trying to provoke” unnecessary controversies that could offend and demean Muslims. Geller, champion of Islamophobia that she is, fired back, accusing Williams of being a “fierce” bully, who wants to “enforce the shariah.”

Islamophobia EnglandHarriet Sherwood Religion correspondent and Alberto Nardelli Data editor
Monday 26 October 2015
The Muslim Council of Britain has warned of increasing levels of Islamophobia in the UK after recent videos showing anti-Muslim abuse on public transport were posted online and police forces in England and Wales were ordered to treat such attacks in the same vein as antisemitism. Miqdaad Versi of the Muslim Council of Britain said: “As a whole, we have to understand that the UK is a very tolerant society, with London one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world, and thankfully these kinds of attacks are relatively rare. But they are on the rise. “The growth in Islamophobia has reached levels which are very worrying. Most Muslims know someone who’s suffered some form of abuse, whether online, physical or verbal. We’re now in a very serious situation and have been for the past year.”

‘Blood on their hands!’ Trump, Carson to blame if gunmen shoot Muslims in US mosques, says CNN analyst

CNN reportersSeptember 29, 2015 |

A CNN foreign policy analyst blasted Republican base voters for supporting candidates Donald Trump, Dr. Ben Carson, and Ted Cruz saying they will be responsible if violence breaks out against Muslims.
Appearing with Don Lemon Monday, Rula Jebreal said if a gunman attacked a mosque, Trump, Carson and Cruz would “have blood on their hands” because of comments each has made regarding Muslims. “Would we ever accept a presidential candidate that would apply the same rules, would say the same things about Jews and blacks? We would never tolerate them, we’d never respect them, we’d never even accept them,” she said. “But we accept it against Muslims because, sadly, in the Republican base this is what is appealing to them today.” “[Its] in the realm of possibility in a country that is very armed that somebody that will be carrying weapons will go to a mosque tomorrow or after tomorrow and will start shooting people,” she said. “And these people will have blood on their hands, all of them. Carson, Trump and Ted Cruz.”

Anti-Islam rallies across USA making Muslims wary

Rallies anti IslamUSA Today NetworkNiraj Warikoo, Detroit Free Press, October 10, 2015
Organizers are planning about 20 anti-Muslim rallies this weekend across the USA, putting officials at many mosques on high alert and prompting many community leaders to urge Muslims to take precautions in case demonstrations turn violent.
The goal of the Global Rally for Humanity, which is asking supporters to create a Facebook page for each protest planned, is to gather a group in front of every mosque in the country — in part to counter a Nation of Islam rally in the District of Columbia to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Million Man March. The number of mosques in the United States has risen from about 1,200 in 2000 to 2,100 five years ago, according to a study from the Hartford Institute for Religion Research titled The American Mosque 2011.

Though the group's Facebook page lists no contacts, the Chicago-based Center for New Community identified Phoenix activist Jon Ritzheimer as the architect of the protest in Arizona, and he has posted several videos on YouTube promoting the protest, according to the Montgomery-Ala.-based Southern Poverty Law Center. In May, when Ritzheimer staged a heavily armed protest outside the Islamic Community Center of Phoenix, he had said he wanted to see similar rallies nationwide.

Muslims say education, tolerance needed after woman’s attack
Indiana University students and members of the Muslim community rallied Saturday to spread awareness about the treatment of Muslims and to express support for the 47-year-old woman attacked as she sat at an outdoor cafe table with her 9-year-old daughter. “When we are faced with intolerance, the best way to fight that is to react with tolerance,” Hemayatullah Shahrani, a member of the Islamic Center of Bloomington told the crowd, The Herald-Times reported ( ). “Not only by talking about it, but how we behave and what kind of example we portray.” Triceten Bickford, 19, of Fort Wayne has been charged with multiple felony charges, including intimidation, strangulation and battery, in the Oct. 17 attack. A probable cause affidavit indicates Bickford emerged from an alley shouting “white power,” anti-black racial slurs and “kill the police” and then allegedly grabbed the woman by the neck and forced her head forward, restricting her breathing as he tried to remove her hijab, a headscarf worn by Muslim women.
