(Miami, FL January 1, 2011) AMANA, The American Muslim Association of North America strongly condemns the recent car bombing attacks med outside a Coptic Christian church that killed at least 21 people in the city of Alexandria, Egypt. Copts, who are adherents of an Egyptian sect of Christianity, make up about 9% of the nation's population.
The religion of Islam precepts clearly prohibits any kind of damaging to worship centers of any religion. "This is a criminal act that can never be justified (in) any religion. Islam does require from every Muslim to be protectors of places of worship for both Muslims and non-Muslims.
We encourage other Muslim organizations nationally and from around the Globe, such as Al Azhar Center in Egypt, to also express their condemnation to this atrocious act and elevate a prayers for those who lost their lives and their families.
